Bird proofing options compared
Proofing works when it matches the species, the ledge and the law. Spikes on a deep loading-bay beam will fail. Netting on a fragile fascia needs a proper survey.
Netting
Best for large openings, loading bays and roof voids. Mesh size depends on the species. Installation quality decides whether birds get behind it.
Spikes and post-and-wire
Useful on narrow ledges and signs. Deep ledges need a different system or a change to the ledge itself.
Cleaning
Fouling should be removed as part of the job where it is safe. Proofing over deep guano leaves a hygiene problem in place.
Legal limits
You cannot block a nest in use for a protected species. Timing and a survey come before any kit is fitted.
