Cockroaches Pest Control
German and Oriental cockroaches exploit warm ducts and dead spaces common in older UK housing and busy food businesses—we combine baiting, monitoring, and hygiene pointers. Book a survey.
Contact usAbout cockroach control
Cockroaches rest in warm, humid harbour — motors, voids and the gap behind a cooker. They contaminate food-contact surfaces as they travel. Finding those harbourages matters more than spraying a worktop.
Pestoid is experts who know how to check everywhere cockroaches might hide, such as electric motors, electronic devices, ceilings, walls, cracks, and small spaces.
After finding out how many cockroaches there are, we use different treatment methods like sprays in cracks and hidden areas, toxic baits, and sometimes special heat treatments to get rid of them.
Keeping your home or business very clean and removing food sources helps make cockroaches weaker and easier to control. Good cleanliness speeds up how quickly we can solve the problem.
How to prevent cockroach infestation
Keeping your home or workplace clean is key to stopping or controlling cockroach problems. Here are some simple tips:
- Store all open food in sealed containers
- Clean up and wash dishes after every meal, don’t leave food out, especially overnight
- Keep surfaces, kitchen areas, and floors very clean
- Take out the trash often and keep bins sealed and away from the building
- Clean kitchen spots where grease builds up really well
- Make sure any indoor manhole covers are sealed tight
By doing these easy things, you can greatly lower the chance of cockroaches invading. These steps help keep your home or work area free from cockroaches.
Type of cockroaches
German cockroach
German cockroaches are the most common of the species within the UK. Despite having wings they do not fly, but they are fast runners and extremely good climbers so they can move around very quickly. German cockroaches prefer warm humid environments, with food and water nearby. Typically, you will find them in kitchens or bathrooms.
Oriental Cockroach
Oriental cockroaches are typically dark reddish-brown in colour, with the adults varying in size from 25mm to 30mm in length. Oriental cockroaches can survive cooler conditions than Germans, but most of the time they will live in buildings, as unfortunately these often provide the comfort and safety they are looking for. One of the most likely indoor areas you’ll find Oriental cockroaches is in the basement as these are moist damp areas.
American Cockroach
The American cockroach has reddish-brown wings, light, circular or figure-eight markings on its thorax. Typically, they prefer habitats where food and water supply are plentiful. American cockroaches require warmer conditions than German and Orientals. They can be found in tropical glasshouses and inner-city drains. The American cockroach, like most others, will consider anything for its next meal. Foods, faeces and everything in between is fair game for a hungry roach.
How cockroach infestations are treated
After an inspection we recommend a plan for the species and the site — usually baiting in harbourages, with insecticide in cracks where it is appropriate. German cockroaches in a kitchen need a tighter programme than Oriental cockroaches in a cooler basement.
What shapes a cockroach quote
Cockroach work is quoted after we have seen where they rest by day. What usually affects the programme:
- Whether activity is one kitchen or several units in a block
- Species — German cockroaches breed faster and need closer follow-up
- How much harbour behind appliances and service voids must be treated
If you’re concerned about cockroaches, please contact our team. We will survey the harbourages and explain the recommended visits.
