UK seasonal pest calendar

Pests follow weather and building use, not the calendar exactly. This is a practical guide to what we see most often in London, Liverpool and similar UK towns.

Spring

Wasp queens start nests. Ants become visible on patios. Mice that wintered in lofts show more in kitchens.

Summer

Wasp nests peak. Flying ants swarm. Flies and cluster flies around farms and bins increase. Bed bug reports rise with travel.

Autumn

Rodents move indoors as nights cool. Squirrels test lofts. Birds look for roosts on ledges.

Winter

Indoor insects in heated buildings continue. Outdoor wasp nests die back. It is a good time for proofing.
