How to prepare your home for bed bug treatment
Preparation is part of the treatment. If clothing, bedding and furniture block the technician, insects in those folds survive. Follow the written list you are given for that visit.
Laundry
Wash and heat-dry bedding, curtains and clothing from the affected rooms on the hottest setting the fabric allows. Bag clean items until the visit is finished.
Access
Pull furniture away from walls. Empty bedside drawers. Do not move infested items into a clean room.
Vacuuming
Vacuum edges, mattress seams and carpet edges, then dispose of the bag or empty the canister outside in a sealed bag.
Pets and people
Agree how long you need to be out of the room. Keep pets away from treated surfaces until you are told it is safe.
